Nice hotel

A classic old hotel with a luxurious exterior, much like the Ritz across the street. The staff is helpful and the rooms are nice. Location is awesome near central square, cathedral and restaurants. Prices were good

Good Experience

We stayed at the Hotel Colonial in Matamoros for a night, while we were on a mission trip to Tamaluipas, MX. The hotel is very near the border with TX and the Mercado Juarez. Nice little rooms. The courtyard was pleasant. The only complaints we had was the lack of hair dryer and iron in the rooms. However the value is great.

Cheap and cheeful

This is a basic hotel, but considering the cost - its excellent value! Rooms are clean, but dated. Staff are great and its in a central location.
Wifi is available, if a little on the slow side. Rooms are quiet and its close to everything.

Perfect for Business or Pleasure

This is authentic Mexico not five minutes from the border. I have stayed at this hotel twice. Once with my husband and once with my husband and four children. We found the accommodations lovely. There is a beautiful courtyard for sitting, meeting, whatever. (While we were there another group of Americans barbecued there.) The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff is quite attentive and personable. The front desk generally has someone who speaks fluent english and were able to grant each of our typical travel requests. There is a breezeway for sitting (with some vending machines for snacking.) We even had a small laundry issue that the staff took care of for us. There is a computer in the lobby for guest use as well as network connections and Wi-Fi. The hotel is within walking distance of the market as well as many shops and restaurants, including a drug store/pharmacy. There is a strong sense of authentic "mexicana" to the hotel, from decor and architecture to the staff and location. We found a lot of information before we traveled at their website at www.hcolonial.com which includes many photos.

MUY BUENA UBICACION Y ATENCION DEL PERSONAL

MUY buena ubicación y atención del personal,hotel limpio, cómodo, habitaciones limpias solo que me toco una muy pequeña y dividida por una pared de tablaroca, la cama super pequeña creo individual, la atencion de la chica de recepcion muy agradable y el precio es bueno.
