Attention to detail needed

Some real pro's and cons with this one. I've stayed at Raddison Blu's before, not for a while, but enough that I chose to stay here. It's my first experience however of the current set up, and I was disappointed with the lack of improvement with design.
The room is spacious, but I would say, clearly designed by a man. The lighting is what shocked me most, all that is available is a set of dim lamps. Mood lighting, yes, but not good when you are trying to get dressed in the morning. My room was on the first floor outside a bus stop, so no way was I risking opening the curtains for the natural light! In true Raddison form, plug sockets are scarce and only really located by the desk area. I've seen others comment that there are no USBs, but I always travel with an adaptor. There was a full length mirror, but I had to stretch using the hair dryer and my straighteners and sit on the floor to use these. The bed was large, as it can be a twin room, which I was appreciative of, but I did notice the lack of pelmet. The mattress was springy, but quite firm. The air-conditioning in the room was easy to use to adjust the room temperature, but the room was freezing on arrival. Luckily I was heading straight out for dinner so I set the heating and once I was back, the room was fine.
The bathroom was nice, but the lighting, although brighter, was again not ideal for vanity use. Big bath sheets and a rubber mat were provided. The shower head itself was scaled up, but the rest of the bathroom was clean.
I didn't use the tea and coffee facilities as it was instant, but I was pleased that there were highball glasses and two free bottles of water included.
Breakfast had a good variety of your standard buffet food, and a range of teas and juices. The food was good, not over cooked and there was a small section of gluten-free food. Sadly only one coffee machine is available and that had a queue. We did go down at 8am, so I would think peak time for a weekday, and tables were not being cleared. We ended up clearing our own.
Parking- I'm always paranoid when travelling a long way so I call on the day to find out more. Luckily I did, as I found you have to pre-book your space and I secured the last one. It's under the hotel, is NOT valet and the staff have to come and open the gate to allow you in. This is not required for leaving. My colleague had to park around the corner. The cheaper one is small NCP north of the hotel for £15. However, we did find that the small section of on-street parking outside the hotel, normally a max stay of 1 hour for £4, is available 6pm - 9am for only £5, which would have suited us perfectly. The location is the best part of this hotel, you a right in the centre.
Overall, I've stayed in worse places and I'd take this over say, a Travel Lodge, any day. But those little, but many improvements in the room really would elevate it to a better quality stay.

Lovely relaxing holiday

Just returned from an amazing holiday here, the hotel was lovely, room was spacious and well appointed, the bed was so comfortable with lovely crisp white linen which was changed every three days, lovely balcony with all day sun (room 2432), two loungers and table and chairs.
Buffet breakfast was good, with all tastes catered for and plenty of everything (full English sometimes not hot enough but microwave available) otherwise all excellent.
Every member of staff in all areas were so efficient, and could not do enough for us.
The pool was really warm and not busy at all, probably because we were in the quiet area !
Some outside areas would benefit from minor maintenance but this did not affect our stay, and as the hotel is now seven years old so could do with some attention
We would definitely stay again

Great customer service

We were very pleased with our stay at the hotel. Although the rooms could do with a bit of refreshing this was outweighed by the quality of the staff. From reception to the bar and restaurant everyone we met were really good. A special mention to Sarah whose customer service is excellent. We were upgraded to a suite which had lovely views from the balcony. The gym was good too, 24 hours access which is very convenient. Thanks Radisson Blu for a lovely stay.

Dirty rooms, damaged furniture, not what I expect from a Radisson Suite

Booked a suite for my wife and I, cost nearly £500 for 2 nights , I have stayed in cleaner hostels.
The walls were filthy with black marks and food all over them. The main wall was full of dust. Someone had rubbed a large circle in the dust in a couple of places, this has been left and started to dust over again.
Items of furniture broken and worn, carpet filthy with stains all over. Seating area had white stains on the chairs , can only imaging what that was.
The net curtains were brown and full of dirt and dust. The banister was full of black marks.
Showed all the problems to the manager who showed me a different suite. When we walked in it looked just as dirty as the other.
I said that the state of it was bad and the manager wasn’t really bothered and just said there’s nothing she can do as I booked through booking.com
Disappointed
