“The paint is off” - severe defects
1) Room cleaning: not done on the first day. Staff approached, nothing happened. 5pm to reception - no one from the staff left to do that now.
Day 2: Sheets themselves pulled off the cot and placed in front of the bed so that it is clear that needs to be changed. Room was cleaned, sheets were pushed into the corner and bed made without bed varnishes - I was speechless. A dirty coffee mug next to the coffee machine did not manage to be taken away by housekeeping until departure.
2) Breakfast at full hotel catastrophic. Volume and fuss may still be personal taste. When it's full, extend breakfast to a neighboring restaurant, also okay. But the fact that not even in 2 hours any staff even drop by to somehow wipe tables or put dishes away is actually unbelievable. Only on the last day, a single plate was cleared from our table in the main area during our breakfast. Tables are not set, even cutlery you have to get yourself like in the canteen, that is not four stars for me.
Guests are also sent to the lobby to eat there, basically fine and also quite nice but that you come by there 2 hours after the end of breakfast and the dishes are still standing there and stacking up because even in between no one was there is not fine.
3. there are seemingly strong problems with building services. We had several strong odors in the room, as if the odor lock in the bathroom did not work properly. But I was more suspicious of the ventilation. Paper apparently only with the window open. In addition, the water pressure is sometimes so low that showering becomes impossible. On the first floor the pressure decreases again and again, but is still acceptable. On the second floor there is partly no more water. The fact that the reception says on request that there are a lot of showers right now is not okay for me. Especially not if you want to shower at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. There are definitely technical problems here but apparently no information to the staff when or how this will be stopped.
Technically, I had to find that 230v lamps are apparently mounted directly in the shower without IP splash protection. This is a security risk in my view that is not ok. Especially in family rooms where children also shower and splash if necessary.
4. The rooms have basically a lot of damage. We had scratches on almost all walls, the furniture is heavily scratched or has paint chipping, holes in doors were patched only needlessly and door frames are completely worn out - even in the toilet area from the inside, where no one should ever come by with their suitcase. I attached photos.
Away from the defects:
Breakfast I also find not appropriate in terms of scope for the price and a 4 star house. This is all more like 0815.
I'll at least be fair to leave some praise:
- Location is really top on the promenade
- Employee Tobi seems to be the only one in the restaurant who has an overview at all
- Big praise to the team in the kitchen that despite the overcrowding and poor organization in the restaurant managed to always stock the buffet cleanly at breakfast. It was never something to wait longer than 30 seconds for and never looked anything unsightly.
- After the personal complaint, the accommodation price was reduced fairly at least on site

Worth a trip!
We were the 2nd time at the BeachMotel and are totally thrilled again!
The totally friendly staff (especially the ladies at Holy Harbour morning and afternoon) , the cleanliness, the great beach bar and the 1A location on the beautiful beach are outstanding!
